Pastor
Our goal at Hope Community Church is to model Romans 15:13, where we show that our hope is found in our Lord
Jesus Christ, who desires that we overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are called to share this hope
with others in word and deed. As a shepherd, teacher, disciple, leader and friend, our pastor will partner with us as
we seek to live out our calling as described in scripture.
WORSHIP
• Preach the word of God, which is applicable to daily life by providing Biblical preaching through welldeveloped, relevant teachings and messages based on God’s truth; preach and teach in a compassionate and
challenging manner
• Plan and coordinate weekly worship services and other special services with the help of other leaders.
• Administer the sacraments; conduct weddings and funerals
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
• Help the church find ways to connect with the neighborhood and the greater Tri-Cities area
• Maintain and foster relationships with non-profit groups that use church facilities
LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION
• Understand, appreciate, and practice Reformed Church in America polity
• Discern God’s vision with church leadership; provide training for church leaders
• Facilitate Consistory meetings; prepare agenda and lead discussion to decision
• Provide oversite of the facility;
• Recruit and oversee staff
SPIRITUAL GROWTH
• Develop the discipleship process
• Work with leaders to provide Bible Studies and other educational programs; provide for new member’s class
PASTORAL CARE
• Together with the Consistory and gifted members of the Congregation, provide pastoral care for those who
are ill, shut in or experiencing hardships
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
• Minister of Word and Sacrament, or Commissioned Pastor; MDiv (Master of Divinity) or ThD (Doctor of
Theology) preferred
• Supports the RCA view of marriage
• Experience in Biblical teaching and preaching in a pastoral role
• 5 years of experience preferred
DENOMINATIONAL AFFILIATION
• Reformed Church in America or Presbyterian preferred
• Open to other denominations; able to affirm Reformed theology
COMPENSATION
Details will be provided during the candidate assessment process. This is a part-time position (37 to 40 Sundays per
year) and open to bi-vocational arrangements
