Thursday, March 20, 2014, BELHAR IN CONTEXT
Join us for an afternoon at New Brunswick Seminary in partnership with the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, to consider: "Belhar in Context: The Process of Reception in South Africa and North America."
Everyone is welcome to attend this signifcant event. RSVP to email@example.com. Come early, at 11:30, to enjoy lunch as a guest of the Reformed Church Center. The program, including video-conferencing to link us together with our South African friends and colleagues, will begin sharply at noon.
The Confession of Belhar began its life in 1982 in South Africa. In that country, Belhar has not only been a confession of the Uniting Reformed Church of Southern Africa, but has been under consideration by other Reformed bodies in that land. It has also found its way into the ecclesial life of Reformed churches around the globe. It was accepted as a new confession by the Reformed Church in America in 2011 and is under active consideration by two other Reformed bodies in North America: the Presbyterian Church U.S. and the Christian Reformed Church.
