    NBTS Scholarship Essay
As part of NBTS's continued mission to educate persons and strengthen communities for transformational, public ministries in church and society, we are proud to offer scholarships. In order for the scholarship committee to evaluate every student applying for scholarships fairly, students must submit a reflective essay.

Submit your essay on a separate sheet of paper with your full name, NBTS Student ID number and your program of study in the top right hand corner. In this short essay, synthesize and critically reflect on your learning in your program of study, and how you will incorporate your learning into your professional practice. Limit your reflective essay to 500-700 words (2 - 4 pages).

Your reflective essay should address the following:
    1. What is your contribution to this community of learning?
    2. What is your community involvement, both in your church and outside the walls of your church community?
    3. What you have learned in your program of study that you will be able to use in your practice as a leader?
    4. How will a scholarship help you in the pursuit of your calling?
    5. How has your study at NBTS enhanced your understanding and your work in global contexts? For a list of NBTS Scholarships please go to www.nbts.edu, click on the tab for 'Current Students' then click on scholarships.

Submit your scholarship essay via email or in person to:
Dr. Beth Tanner, Chair for Scholarship Committee at btanner@nbts.edu
Ms. Betty A. Rucker, Financial Aid and International Student Coordinator at brucker@nbts.edu.

LOAN AMOUNT REQUEST (Please indicate the amount you are requesting)
The Budget Control Act of 2011 (Pub. L. 112-25) made an important change to the Direct Loan Program: Effective for loans made for periods of enrollment (loan periods) beginning on or after July 1, 2012, graduate and professional students are no longer eligible to receive Direct Subsidized Loans. Direct Subsidized Loans received by any student for loan periods beginning before July 1, 2012, for graduate study, are not affected by this change. Note that it is the beginning date of the loan period that determines whether a graduate student can receive a subsidized loan, not the first disbursement date. For example, a graduate or professional student could receive a Direct Subsidized Loan for a loan period that begins in June 2012, even if the first disbursement of the loan is made on or after July 1, 2012. NBTS has chosen to continue to participate in the Federal Direct Loan Program. Under this program, the loan funds come directly from the U.S. government. Unsubsidized loans, which are not based on need, are available for students who don't qualify for need-based financial aid (i.e. some NBTS Scholarships).

By completing and submitting this form you are indicating that you wish to receive a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan in the amount listed below. Your eligibility for loan funds will be determined based upon your enrollment status of either full-time (12 or more credits) three quarter-time ( 9-11 credits) or half-time (6-8 credits), the period of the loan (Academic Year or one semester), your educational costs and the anticipated and/or received financial aid resources you will have for the period of the loan. Loan disbursements are evenly split by semester. Remember that your student loan cannot be originated until this form has been received by our office and if you are a first time borrower your Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN) has been submitted electronically. We advise you to borrow only as much as you need to meet your educational expenses.
