Statement on Institutional Effectiveness
New Brunswick Theological Seminary is an inter-cultural, ecumenical school of Christian faith, learning and scholarship. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and denominations that bring with them profound experiences in faith and life which reflects the rich diversity of God's whole people. Our dedication to providing rigorous and accessible training for a diverse community of students has made us the institution of choice for those who demand an exceptional seminary education.
The Faculty of New Brunswick Theological Seminary is committed both to the overall assessment of our students and our formal curriculum. The aim of the M.Div. student assessment is to reflect with students on their total formation for ministry and identify opportunities for further growth. In the case of the curriculum assessment, the aim is to use the knowledge gained from student assessment to make changes to our learning goals and curriculum. M.A. students participate in an exit interview aimed to reflect on their growth and formation as a result of their seminary experience.
In addition to the student and curriculum assessment processes, New Brunswick Theological seminary continually measures its educational effectiveness through a variety of tools, including statistical reporting based on Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) submissions; in-person senior exit interviews with the President and the Dean of the Seminary; and beginning in the spring 2013 semester we will begin interviews with graduates through questionnaires designed to discover how well their seminary education prepared them for ministry, chaplaincy and/or scholarship in relation to the curricular learning goals.
