FROM THE ADMINISTRATION
The Dean’s office has prepared this Student Handbook to provide
you with important information concerning student life and academic regulations
at New Brunswick Seminary. Please read it carefully and keep it handy for future
reference. If theological education is without clear expectations and requirements,
an academic program quickly becomes inferior and campus life chaotic. Think of
the policies that follow as terms of a covenant permitting you to receive maximum
benefits from your time in Seminary. They enable freedom for learning, worship
and ministry. The word "covenant," with its rich biblical associations,
aptly describes our life together. The faculty and administration covenant to
provide a rich educational experience preparing you for ministry. We think of
this as our ministry. We hope that you will also covenant with the members of
the Seminary community to participate fully in its programs and activities. This
means more than completing assignments, passing examinations and making sure papers
arrive on time. As important as these may be, community life also means worshipping,
serving and playing together. This is part of the student's ministry. The academic
year ahead can be one of intellectual, spiritual, and social growth for every
member of the community. Our success in our mutual endeavors will depend on the
depth of commitment we bring to our covenant with the men and women who make up
the Seminary community and our willingness to minister and receive the ministry
of others. May God bless you through the weeks and months of your program at New
Brunswick Theological Seminary.
