The Warren Dennis Metro-Urban Lecture 2018

May 5, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

A Prophetic Urban Ministry Approach to Traumatization In 21st Century

Second Reformed Church, 100 College Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ

Keynote Speaker:   The Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Peters

The 21st century can be described as a century of pervasive and continuous psycho-traumatization.   Witnessing and experiencing trauma can pierce the soul, crush the spirit, shake the psyche and leave an entire community in a state of hopelessness and continuous dis-ease.

What does it mean and look like for churches, faith-based institutions, and their leadership to engage in a prophetic ministry approach that helps traumatized urban congregations and communities experience hope, healing, and forward movement?  This year’s Warren Dennis lecture will address these issues and provide pastors, chaplains and not-for-profit urban practitioners with new ideas and tools for addressing traumatization in the 21st century urban context. Join us as we discuss life-giving resources, support structures, and prophetic urban ministry approaches that can help urban communities not just survive but thrive.

Following the keynote, there will be a panel discussion of representatives from churches and faith-based institutions who are doing innovative ministry in urban contexts.

Admission is free, but registration is required. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
Please RSVP to deansoffice@nbts.edu by Friday, April 27.
