NBTS Students and Alumni/ae are invited to 
a conversation with Dr. Richard Payne, MD, Duke Divinity School  – “End of Life Care for African Americans”

Dr. Payne, along with colleagues at Howard University College of Medicine, through a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, created “APPEAL” (A Progressive Palliative Care Educational Curriculum for African Americans at Life’s End) to address issues of:

  • Cultural and Spiritual Beliefs
  • Mistrust of Health Care Institutions
  • Communication Needs of African Americans facing end-of-life care
