“Office: What It Means, Why It Matters,”

“Office: What It Means, Why It Matters,” a discussion on the RCA’s theology and understanding of ecclesiastical office, working from the papers presented to the General Synod of 2015 by the RCA Commission on History. Two members of the Commission–James Hart Brumm, director of the Reformed Church Center, and Matthew van Maastricht, pastor at Calvary Reformed Church in New Berlin, Wisconsin and an adjunct instructor in church governance at the Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan–will present those papers; Renée House, NBTS affiliate faculty member and pastor of Old Dutch Reformed Church in Kingston, New York, will reflect on a Reformed theology of office; and all the participants, including other members of the Commission on History, will respond and discuss together over dinner.
